Driving south through the Keys, Sally, Aunt Shirley (Meme) and Jane stopped at this wildlife viewing area.

Being Florida, the wildlife consisted of an alligator.  (What would you expect?)

Much of the drive along the Keys is similar to any highway — trees, houses, retail strips — but portions, such as the Seven Mile Bridge, provide a real seagoing experience.

The streets of Key West, especially Duval Street, are lined with Victorian houses, many turned into restaurants and inns.

During our 2.5-hour ferry ride to the Dry Tortugas, we were invited into the bridge.

The fort on the Dry Tortugas occupies most of the island.

Our boat docked with its nose on the sand.

Other people in a hurry took this seaplane.

During the Civil War the fort protected Union shipping between New Orleans and the East Coast.

Back in Key West, Sally and Jane were bugged at the butterfly zoo.
