We paused at the Amalia Glacier in a Chilean fjord on the afternoon of 24 November. |

Rounding Cape Horn Crystal Symphony passed Cape Horn at about 8:30 a.m. on 28 November with calm seas. The promontory identified as Cape Horn is on Horn Island (Isla Hornos), one of over eight islands at the southern end of South America’s Patagonian archipelago. Between Cape Horn and the South Shetland Islands of Antarctica is the Drake passage, 600 miles of wind and cold, often rough, water. |

On Horn Island, east of the cape, is a monument, erected by Chileans in 1992, to all seamen ever lost in the vicinity of Cape Horn. (Inset photo courtesy of Crystal Cruises) |
