Montevideo, Uruguay

 

Uruguay is one of South America’s smallest countries and Montevideo, its only large city, houses more than half the nation’s population.

At the estancia, Ed tries mate, the national drink of both Uruguay and Argentina.

While in the port, Crystal flies the flag of Uruguay.

We visit La Rábida, an estancia (ranch) and are greeted by gauchos.

The gauchos, some of whom are the estancia owner’s children, ride their horses along the shore of the Rio de la Plata, the very wide river that separates Uruguay and Argentina.

Our meal is cooked on a large barbeque.
